This is one of the more beautiful books I've seen in a bit: a folio, 4th edition (1921) of the Missale Cæcutientium, the Missal for the Blind, i.e. hard of sight. These were made for priests whose eyesight was failing. The firm of Fridericus Pustet was known for fine printing and excellent lithography (as seen here on and facing the title-page). This particular copy is in unused, as new condition! I nearly wept and salivated all over it. It's a gorgeous liturgical book.
Absolutely gorgeous! I'm not visually impaired, but sometimes in poorer lighting something like this would be most helpful.
ReplyDeleteHi could someone please help me find out what book or version i have. I have the same Roman Missal for visually impaired. It has large print too. But to my surprise I think this is autographed. Was the first editions autographed. It has what appears to be the old german swatz sticker than signed Antonius Epis copus Ratisbonensis. It appears to be real and not the printed copy of signature. Plus mine has Gold Page edges and Gold Cross on front of book and back. I was wondering could it be the first edition and if so how rare is it. Does anyone have idea what they cost. I was lucky enough tpo buy at flea market. Thanks for reading any help would be appreciated. Have A Great Night Everyone.
DeleteCan you email us a picture of the binding, title page and signature?
DeleteHi Sorry for the delay computer was down. Yes i will get a picture as soon as I get my new phone. Just broke it. Signature is on antonius page behind the missale Caecutientium Page. And from what i can see from the pictures posted here. There is no signature on the end of the page in picture. Do all these issues have signatures? This one is Printed In Germany. Im not sure if all were. But im excited to find out more about it. The edging of book is gold. The cross on front and back is Gold. And it has leather marker tabs on edges of page.I will get the pictures out as soon as i locate my camera cord. Thanks so much for your time. God Bless
