In Vino Veritas

When theological books are brought in for us to consider purchasing, they often arrive in liquor boxes.

We think this brings new meaning to the old maxim: "In vino veritas...".

An Old Brick Building up on the Bluffs

We recently sold this, a 1920s book of maps of Washington County:

Which has this in it:

Which gives us occasion to speak of the foundations of our little (big) bookstore on North 4th Street-- that would be block #14 there, just between Mulberry and Linden Streets.

It is well known that Loome Theological Booksellers has its home in an old church.
What may be lesser known is that the building was originally a mission church of the Covenant denomination, founded by Swedish immigrants.

And what may be even lesser known, is that the same plot of land was the original site of the first Catholic Church in Stillwater, St. Michael's, before the parish moved to the South Hill.

Jean Cardinal Daniélou

Check out the following article on Jean Daniélou. We found it to be an insightful look at one of our store's featured authors:

On a bookish note, this is excerpted from the article:

"Today, few of his books are still available for purchase. And yet they are still of extraordinary richness and freshness. Simple and yet very profound, as few theologians have been able to do over the last century, apart from him and that other champion of clarity named Joseph Ratzinger."

Let it be known: books by Jean Daniélou are "available for purchase" at Loome Theological Booksellers.
